Bamboo quiver from Korea, Asia. Collected by Mr. G. O. Hiller. Purchased by the Museum from Francis Howe Seymore Knowles in 1922.
This quiver is constructed from a node of bamboo and contains 15 arrows. The bamboo lid is attached by a brass hinge and catch in the shape of a tortoise and the base is also made of brass base. It is decorated with a carved inscription in Hangul (Korean) characters and the swastika motif also appears. The swastika is often found as a repeating pattern in Korean, Chinese and Japanese art.
